This afternoon, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following an initiative by the latter.
During the conversation, according to official sources, the Greek Prime Minister emphasized to his Israeli counterpart the need to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
Although he acknowledged that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, he underlined that the resolution of such issues must be sought through diplomatic channels, and that the region cannot bear the opening of new flashpoints.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis also particularly stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.
