Russia and Ukraine have carried out a new exchange of war dead, according to a statement today by a Kremlin adviser. The exchange follows an agreement reached during the second round of peace talks held in Istanbul this past June.
Vladimir Medinsky, head of the Russian delegation at those peace talks, announced via Telegram that Moscow returned the bodies of 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers, receiving in exchange the bodies of 19 Russian soldiers.
Russia handed over the bodies of a further 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed in action on Thursday, according to Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky. In exchange, Ukraine handed over 19 bodies of Russian soldiers.
