The Cyprus-flagged cargo ship “Goodfaith” ran aground off the north coast of Andros early on Wednesday. 18 of the 22 crewmen (21 Filipinno, 1 Romanian) on the ship have been rescued and transferred to Elefsis airport and the Andros heliport, however four people are still on board.
Extreme weather conditions are prevalent with wind velocity at 9-10 Beaufort making rescue efforts difficult.
Goodfaith was on its way from the Greek port of Elefsis to Odessa, Ukraine.
