Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis told German Stern magazine that a debt that can’t be paid off should lead to a cut. “We can call it many things,” he added, noting that both the Greek and German languages are equally rich.
Moreover, he dubbed Germans as the “best Europeans”, compared to other EU countries, such as the French and Greek, and went so far as to say that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is the “smartest politician” of Europe.
Not to be left out, he also praised his German counterpart Wolfgang Schauble. “He is probably the only European politician with such an intellectual status, and a committed European and rooted federalist,” he said.
