Trump: “They’re thugs, they hate the country” — Trump lashes out at Democrats for blocking ambassador appointments

“Such a delay has never happened before in U.S. history,” says the U.S. president, referring to the Senate deadlock that is also blocking Kimberly Guilfoyle’s appointment to Greece

Newsroom August 6 07:40

Donald Trump launched a direct attack against the Democrats who have frozen the appointment of dozens of officials, including Kimberly Guilfoyle, the nominee for U.S. Ambassador to Greece.

In a post on Truth Social, the social media platform he founded, Trump first attacked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, accusing him of blackmailing for the approval of $2 billion in funds in exchange for moving forward with the appointment process.

“This has never happened before. There has never been such a delay in U.S. history. They are blackmailers!” Trump wrote, calling on Republicans to pass legislation to bypass these blockades.

It is worth noting that the Senate is responsible for final approval of ambassadorial appointments. Guilfoyle’s nomination currently remains stuck at that stage, preventing her from officially assuming her post in Greece.

Trump’s full post:

“The politically wounded Senator, crybaby Chuck Schumer, wants Republicans to pay, as blackmail, two billion dollars so the Radical Left Democrats will approve the hundreds of Trump appointments that have been waiting for months and are ready to get to work.
This has never happened before. There has never been such a delay in the history of the United States. They are extortionists!
Republicans must pass legislation to break free from the grip of these thugs who hate our country.
Move quickly!!!
Make America Great Again.”
