Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis and Bank of Greece (BoG) Gov. Yannis Stournaras on Thursday reacted to Germany’s rejection of a Greek request for a loan agreement extension.

The Deputy PM said that “in case Europeans refuse to aid us, they should be prepared to bear the brunt of their decision”.

Stournaras said he briefed Dragasakis over yesterday’s ECB meeting, whose stance is more-or-less also linked with Eurogroup decisions, as he said.

Conversely, Dragasakis stressed that “the Greek people remain composed despite adversity”.

“We believe that the current program did not succeed and has brought a humanitarian crisis. Our people have ordered us end austerity. The government will not violate this mandate,” the deputy PM said.
