Schauble: It is now Tsipra’s say

"If Greece does not fulfill its commitments, there will be no further help", warns German Minister of Finance

Newsroom March 1 10:47

In his interview to German Sunday Bild newspaper edition, German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schauble appeared optimistic on Greece fulfilling its commitments,.

However, at the same time he stresses that “If Greece does not fulfill its commitments, there will be no further help”.

According to the report, Wolfgang Schauble recognizes that a new government is bound to need time and once again stresses that an exit for Greece from the Eurozone is not desirable.

“We reached a clear deal at the Eurogroup”, he says.

The German Minister of Finance stated that: “The Greek Prime Minister made a promise. If Greece does not keep its commitments, there will be no further help, he will repeat. We don’t want a Grexit. We stand in solidarity, but we will not be blackmailed. Nobody imposed the aid program on Greeks. It is now Athen’s say”.

“You must give time to a newly elected government”. Governance is a rendezvous with reality “, said Wolfgang Schauble and added that he has informed his Greek counterpart Yanis Varoufakis that he is willing to help on the tax collectors working mechanism issue by sending German taxman in Greece.

Replying to a question concerning the possibility of Greece needing and a new aid package, the German Minister of Finance stated that we have to wait until the current package is completed and added: “Whatever happens, our criteria will be very strict “.
