Anna Vissi’s concerts: €700,000 production, 20 Taylor Swift-style dancers, and tens of thousands of fans

In October 2023, Anna Vissi performed two sold-out nights at the Herodion, celebrating 50 years in music with a decade-long transformation of her artistic image

A year later, on October 5, 2024, she staged a massive concert at the Panathenaic Stadium, drawing over 65,000 fans to cheer her on.

This year, as a group of young women leaving the Kallimarmaro Stadium put it: “Anna went all out.” She delivered two consecutive nights of performances to a total audience of 130,000, singing for 3.5 hours each night, covering all of her greatest hits.

It was a grand spectacle with a production budget of around €700,000, involving hundreds of professionals. Industry insiders say this was the most expensive concert ever staged by a Greek artist. Two companies organized the two-night event: Galaxias Live Productions and D&A Productions — a newly formed company launched in August by Dimitra Kousta (the “D”), wife of shipowner Giannis Koustas, and Anna Vissi (the “A”).

The two women, close friends since last May and godmothers to Anna’s godson John Koustas Jr., began their collaboration with the production of Vissi’s latest music video, “Sandré,” filmed in the stunning setting of Sorrento by D&A Productions.

The video was directed by Kassandra Powell, while choreography was led by Tia Rivera, famed for her work on Beyoncé’s world tour — choreography that Rivera also brought to Anna’s two Kallimarmaro concerts.

Powell directed both shows, employing dozens of cameras, including a flying camera on a cable spanning the stadium, providing sweeping aerial views. Eleven giant LED screens ensured that even the most distant spectators had a perfect view. Seven drones captured additional perspectives, giving the concerts a truly cinematic scope.

Spectacular Production & Choreography

Rivera’s choreography team — 20 dancers, the same troupe Taylor Swift uses in her live shows — brought unmatched energy to the performances. They delivered flawless choreography that matched Vissi’s iconic hits.

Vissi’s long-standing band featured 11 musicians plus two backup vocalists. On select tracks, including her hit “Trelainomai,” the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra joined her on stage under Maestro Alexis Priftis, a 38-member ensemble filling the enormous stage.

The stage itself was an extended version of the one used at this year’s Eject Festival, expanded by 100 meters to allow Vissi to roam freely while wearing a striking black-and-gold Dolce & Gabbana outfit designed specifically for her.

Vissi’s Voice & Emotional Performance

From the first notes of “Se Periptosi Pou,” the audience of 65,000 each night erupted, singing along with passion. For over three and a half hours, Vissi gave everything — delivering a performance both technically strong and emotionally charged.

Several times she appeared visibly moved, inviting Nikos Karvelas on stage, a moment fans had anticipated. While her voice may no longer have the same power it did fifteen years ago, she pushed it to its limits, inspiring a generational audience — from young fans in their twenties to women her own age — through songs that have become pop anthems.

After the concerts, Vissi admitted she felt nervous seeing the sea of fans awaiting her. But that anxiety dissolved as she left the stage holding a sign with a now-famous slogan: “Whatever I’ve lived, Vissi has sung it.”
