Donald Trump: I believe we have an agreement on Gaza

The American president said the agreement will bring back the hostages and end the war

Newsroom September 26 07:35

“I believe we have an agreement” on Gaza, said US President Donald Trump.

“The agreement will bring back the hostages. It will be an agreement that will end the war, it will bring peace,” Trump told reporters shortly before leaving the White House to attend the Ryder Cup golf tournament in New York.

Trump’s remarks come shortly after a speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the UN General Assembly. Amid boos and people leaving the hall, Netanyahu stressed that “Israel must finish the job in Gaza as quickly as possible.”

“The last remnants of Hamas are hiding in Gaza,” Netanyahu said, vowing that he will not rest until the hostages are returned. “Lay down your arms. Release all the hostages now… If you do, you will live. If not, Israel will hunt you down,” he said, addressing Hamas.

This week the American president presented a new peace plan for Gaza to Muslim leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan, as well as to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Reports said the “21-point plan” presented by Trump proposes, among other things, the release of the remaining hostages, a permanent ceasefire, and the gradual withdrawal of Israel from the entire Gaza Strip.

For the day after, the proposal includes a post-war plan with a governance mechanism without Hamas, a security force that would include Palestinians as well as troops from Arab and Muslim countries, and funding from Arab and Muslim countries for the new administration in Gaza and the region’s reconstruction. According to the proposal, the Palestinian Authority would have some form of involvement.

Mitsotakis: “Farmers will receive every euro they are entitled to — Solutions come through dialogue, not roadblocks”

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured farmers that all payments owed to them will be delivered in full, emphasizing that while agricultural workers have every right to demand more support, “extreme forms of protest, such as roadblocks, may exert pressure but ultimately disrupt daily life and do not help us move forward faster”
