Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, the man who refused to take his travelers’ compensation, appeared angered that some deputies chose not to forfeit their 400-euro subsidy for the use of passenger cars. “I felt very bad when I found out that deputies did something un acceptable, by saying that ‘We are poor when we get 6,000 euros’, asking for another 400!” he said.
He reminded his deputies that they are not in power to enjoy the privileges that it gives as was the case with previous governments. “I can understand that a deputy in a country region needs a car, but a deputy in Athens does not need it,” said SYRIZA parliament spokesperson Nikos Fylis, adding that police protection is also unnecessary.
