The tender and deeply moving short film “I Will Be Waiting for You at Every Recess ” continues to make its mark on world cinema, earning international recognition in New York and London and bringing pride to Ilia and Pyrgos.

Award in New York – Frames of the New York Film Festival

The film received the “Award Winner – Best Male Director” distinction at the Frames of New York Film Festival, praised for its originality, emotional depth, and sensitive direction. The certificate features the film’s English title, “I Will Be Waiting for you at Every Recess,” reflecting the global journey of a project created with heart and passion.

“We are grateful for the wonderful and groundbreaking work you have shared with us,” reads the festival’s official statement.

In addition, the film was selected for the Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival in London, part of the Lift-Off Global Network, which showcases emerging voices in independent cinema. This participation marks another major international recognition for the young creative team from Ilia.

A story that touches hearts

The film tells a moving story of childhood, friendship, and loss, inspired by children battling cancer. With tenderness and emotional honesty, it explores the strength of purity and hope in the face of life’s most difficult challenges.

Created by Sakis Antipas and Paris Koulouris, two promising young filmmakers, the film delivers a universal message of humanity and solidarity. The main roles are beautifully portrayed by three children from Pyrgos, Ilia — Danae Petropoulou, Titus Antipas, and Dimitra Vlassis — whose heartfelt performances have captivated audiences and critics across Europe, America, and Asia.

With 58 official selections at international film festivals across three continents, the film has become one of the most successful Greek short productions of recent years. It has also been selected for the 2nd Short Film Competition of Western Greece, confirming its strong presence in both the Greek and international film scenes.

Creators with vision

The success of these young talents from Pyrgos proves that creativity, soul, and passion can transcend all boundaries. From the heart of Ilia, a small cinematic dream travels to New York and London, carrying a powerful message of hope, love, and faith in life.
