Yougov poll shows most Germans now favor Grexit

Germans have turned against their southern eurozone partners dramatically over the last month.

Newsroom March 18 01:23

According to a poll conducted by the German opinion pollster YouGov in March, six in 10 German respondents now say that the euro zone will be better off without Greece, a significantly increased percentage compared to results of a similar poll in February.

Relations between the two countries seem to have deteriorated during the last month since the assumption of power of a radical left government in Athens. Public opinion in Europe’s strongest economy may have been influenced, of late, by media reports showing a video of Greek FinMin Yanis Varoufakis allegedly “giving the finger” to Germany during a 2013 address in Croatia.
