The 24-year-old Alexander Serruys from Belgium had already said to his 20-year-old partner, Marieke, that he wanted to make an unusual marriage proposal and she, as she stated later, believed that this proposal would be during a football match. But, it seems Alexander totally surprised her…

Alexander participated in a competition organized by the travel agency Thomas Cook the day of St. Valentine, entitled: If you could marry your girlfriend in the air, would you do it?” Alexander won and the prize was the wedding ceremony organized by the company on board to Rhodes, and their honeymoon trip on the Greek island of the Knights, Rhodes!

The groom arranged everything with the help of the bride’s sister. He secretly invited 40 close members of family and friends, who had entered the plane from the back door and the sister of the bride took care to “mislead” her telling her that both of them won a trip to Rhodes.

The groom and the relatives remained hidden in the back seats of the aircraft until the 25-year-old appeared and fell on his knees and asked her to marry him.

The only thing Marieke managed to mumble was how her partner managed to take a day off his work and was on the plane. But, when she recovered from the shock, she accepted the proposal of her beloved.

Then, the bride’s sister brought the well-kept wedding dress and a make-up artist, who was invited especially for the occasion, assisted the bride to look most beautiful on that special day!

The ceremony was carried out by the pilot. When the plane landed, the couple and their relatives enjoyed the wedding party that had been organized especially for them by the travel agency.
