First farmers’ blockade being set up in Chalkidiki
The first blockade in the region of Chalkidiki is set to be established tomorrow at 12 noon at the Nikiti traffic lights in Sithonia, initiated by local beekeepers and farmers, as decided at their general assembly.
Beekeepers with their vehicles, as well as farmers with tractors and agricultural trucks from areas such as Ormylia, Nikiti, and Sykia, will gather at the site. During a new assembly that will take place on location, participants will collectively decide the form and method of their mobilizations.
As noted to the Athens–Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) by Aristotelis Kassandrinos, a member of the Halkidiki Professional Beekeepers’ Association — which has 400 members — proposals under consideration include protest gatherings at the Prefecture buildings and possibly at tax offices.
“With our mobilizations,” he stressed, “we aim to highlight the problems that concern us and demand solutions to crucial issues affecting the primary sector, standing in solidarity with our colleagues mobilizing across Greece.”
