A car accident occurred Thursday afternoon (Dec. 11) in New York City when a bus went off course and crashed into the scaffolding of a building in downtown Manhattan, causing property damage and injuring the driver.
Specifically, according to the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) and the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the Coach USA bus, which had no passengers on board, was traveling eastbound on 41st Street when it suddenly lost control and crashed into the scaffolding of a downtown building.
At least one person sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital after a bus slammed into a scaffolding, hitting a Midtown Manhattan building in New York City.
As a witness working in the building tells the New York Post, the collision caused loud noises as the scaffolding collapsed, forcing people lying on the sidewalk to run.
The bus driver was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
As seen in a video released on social media, the front half of the bus was on the sidewalk while the back half was sticking out into the street, according to the video shared online
Authorities are investigating the cause and circumstances of the accident.
