Police arrested a 20-year-old early on Thursday morning (12/11) in an area of Athens, who was found to be in possession of and transporting a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Specifically, according to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the 20-year-old was identified and immobilized by officers at an intercity bus (KTEL) station in Athens, immediately after disembarking from a bus.
During a search of the suitcase he was carrying, police found and seized the assault rifle, as well as a magazine containing 12 cartridges. The ammunition will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
The arrested individual was taken to the competent Prosecutor’s Office and referred to an Investigating Magistrate, while police investigations to fully clarify the case are ongoing.
