A victim of fraud, a 70-year-old woman from Thessaloniki, fell victim to a scam, losing £450 in English gold coins and jewelry, with the total value of the fraudsters’ haul estimated at approximately €500,000.

According to her report to the Pylaia–Hortiatis Police Station, the incident occurred yesterday morning when unknown individuals posed as employees of DEDDIE (the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator). The suspects allegedly convinced her to place cash and jewelry outside the front door of her home, claiming it was necessary for security reasons.

The victim stated that she left £450 in gold coins, considered a high-value reserve, along with jewelry worth more than €100,000. The perpetrators collected the items and fled the scene.
