The Municipality of Athens is on alert due to the low temperatures expected over the next 24 hours. Starting today, Tuesday (30/12), from 8:00 p.m. and until further notice, emergency measures are being implemented to protect vulnerable citizens.
As part of these measures, the Agios Eleftherios Friendship Club (372 Acharnon St., tel. 210 2012334) is opening as a heated space, providing safe shelter, meals, and basic care services.
The municipality’s Street Work teams will operate around the clock on the city’s streets, distributing hot drinks, snacks, clothing, and blankets. At the same time, information and assistance will be provided to those who have difficulty reaching the Shelter of the Multi-purpose Homeless Center, which operates continuously to offer accommodation, meals, and essential services.
The hotline 210 5246515/6 (ext. 0) will operate 24 hours a day. In addition, citizens can report locations where homeless individuals in need of assistance are located by emailing kyadastreetwork@athens.gr. Reports can also be made via the Municipality of Athens’ four-digit contact number, 1595.
