Newsroom January 6 05:35

The well-known lawyer from Kefalonia, Lambros Theotokatos, is fighting for his life in a Paris hospital, just a few days after the sudden death of his wife, Athanasia Karakousi, in Panama.

What began as a festive getaway to Central America turned into a dark thriller, leaving behind unanswered questions and a family plunged into anguish.

Serious health problems

Athanasia Karakousi, a well-known notary on the island and particularly loved by the local community, suddenly developed serious health problems during their vacation.

Her condition deteriorated rapidly, with doctors referring to a severe infection. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, the woman passed away within a short period of time and far from her homeland.

The tragedy, however, did not end there. During the return journey, her husband felt unwell, with high fever and severe symptoms, according to the latest information.

His condition was immediately deemed critical and he did not return to Greece, but was urgently transferred to a hospital in Paris, where he is hospitalized intubated, fighting to stay alive.

Devastated by the double tragedy, she is following developments while also having to manage the difficult process of repatriating her mother’s body from Panama to Greece.

For her at this moment, according to people from the family’s circle of friends, there is only one priority: that her father pulls through.

The questions surrounding the causes of the illness remain many. The competent authorities are closely monitoring the case, with no official update so far shedding light on what exactly happened. Was it a rare infection? Something unforeseen that struck two people on the same trip? Until answers are given, the anguish remains.
