Sailing ban in force due to strong winds – which routes are operating

Passengers planning to travel today are advised to contact local port authorities before departure

Newsroom January 8 08:33

Strong southerly winds blowing across many sea areas are causing disruptions to ferry services and, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), are reaching 8 to 9 on the Beaufort scale.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard, from the port of Piraeus only ferry routes to the Dodecanese are operating, while all other routes to island destinations have been temporarily suspended.

In the Saronic Gulf, ferry services are suspended until further notice.

A similar situation prevails at the port of Rafina, from where routes to the Cyclades will not be operating, while a sailing ban remains in force from the port of Lavrio.

Several ferry connections also remain closed, including Feneromeni (Salamina)–Megara, Nea Styra–Agia Marina, Keramoti–Thassos, Corfu–Igoumenitsa, Rio–Antirrio, and Kyllini–Zakynthos.

Passengers planning to travel today are urged, before setting off, to contact local port authorities and travel agencies in order to stay informed about any changes or modifications to ferry schedules.
