Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis met at the U.S. Treasury Department headquarters in Washington with U.S. Treasury Under Secretary for International Affairs Nathan Sheets on Tuesday to discuss the latest developments in Greece.
Sheets urged Greece to fully commit to a process of technical negotiations with its international partners in order to finalize a comprehensive set of reforms that merits timely financial support from Greece’s creditors.
The day before, IMF Chief Christine Lagarde reportedly pressed Varoufakis to agree to pension cuts and raise VAT, however the Greek finance ministry denied these reports.
