A new wave of immigrants has raised the alarm in the Mediterranean sea, and hundreds have already arrived on the Italian coast, while hundreds more are expected to join them.
As mentioned by the Italian press, a Panamanian-flagged ship has saved 529 people, out of which 120 are women and 19 are children, which are heading towards Palermo, Sicily, and are expected to arrive on Monday.
Meanwhile, in Ragusa, Sicily, during the evening hours of Saturday, 420 immigrants disembarked, while 100 more are expected to reach the area.
The shocking part is that the vessel they are occupying includes three who died during the passage, with the causes of death still unknown.
In the venture of rescuing and patrolling the waters are Malta and Italy’s warships, while, according to the mayor of Sicily, there are fears that the situation will get out of control if the number of immigrants arriving on Italian shores increases.
