From the early hours of the morning, filming began at the port of Hydra, which has been completely transformed into a setting reminiscent of the 1980s for the needs of the new international production starring Brad Pitt.

The production’s effort to faithfully portray the image of that era is impressive and extends to every detail. In addition to the “padlock” placed on the shops in the harbour – by agreement and compensation for the professionals – one of the shops has been converted into an old-fashioned butcher shop. Inside, real meat has been placed on real meat, hung on sizzling racks, while prices are written in drachmas, creating an image that authentically recalls the Greek market of decades past.

At the same time, the port presents a completely different view from the usual one. All the modern speedboats have been removed and traditional fishing boats have been tied up in their place, in order for the setting to reflect old Hydra, just as the script requires. According to reports, production people have asked the fishermen to avoid any contact with journalists and not to reveal any details of the script either.

However, the presence of the fishing boats next to the water taxis seems to have caused discomfort for some professionals, with water taxi owners complaining that they were not consulted beforehand, expressing concern about how they would be able to work during filming.

Preparations had begun very early, as dozens of extras had gathered at the port as early as 5 a.m., ready to participate in the scene that sees passengers boarding the historic flying dolphin. According to the script, the ship is shown performing a normal itinerary, recreating a typical travel image of that period.

Brad Pitt didn’t appear until the first few hours of filming, with scenes initially taking place with supporting actors and extras, and the production running to a strict schedule and high standards of discretion.
