Iranian general directly threatens Cyprus: “We will launch as many missiles as necessary to force the Americans to leave”

New threats were issued by a general of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Sardar Jabari

Newsroom March 2 05:33

“The Americans have transferred the majority of their aircraft to Cyprus. We will launch so many missiles at Cyprus that the Americans will be forced to leave from there as well,” Jabari said, among other remarks.

“So far, we have launched around 3,000 first- and second-generation missiles,” he noted, announcing further strikes: “In the coming days we will certainly use third- and fourth-generation missiles. Approximately 10,000 drones have taken off so far.”

The accuracy of Jabari’s statements, as heard in the video, was confirmed by philenews.

It is recalled that following Iranian strikes on the British base at Akrotiri, the Greek Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, announced that Greece is sending two frigates to Cyprus, following communication between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Christodoulides. These include the frigate Kimon and another Hellenic Navy frigate equipped with the anti-drone system “Centaur.” At the same time, Greece is also dispatching a pair of F-16 fighter jets to Cyprus. Minister Dendias is also expected to travel to Nicosia tomorrow.

“Mr. Mitsotakis spoke a short while ago with Mr. Christodoulides. I am in constant communication with my counterpart. Following the unprovoked attacks, I assured that throughout the crisis Greece will contribute to the defence of Cyprus. Accordingly, and following a decision of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence, the frigate Kimon is being dispatched immediately, along with a second Greek frigate carrying the ‘Centaur’ system. In addition, a pair of F-16 fighter aircraft is being sent to the Republic of Cyprus. For better coordination, I will travel to Cyprus tomorrow together with the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff,” the Minister of National Defence said after the meeting held at the ministry.

Cyprus thanks Greece for its assistance

The Cypriot government spokesperson, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, thanked Greece in a post on X for sending the two frigates and the pair of F-16s.

Full statement by Mr. Letymbiotis:

“We thank the Greek Government for its response following today’s telephone communication between President Christodoulides and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
