At noon on Monday (9/3), the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, were in Paphos ahead of a trilateral meeting regarding recent developments and the attacks on Cyprus.

A short while ago, the French president made a post on his personal account on X in which he stressed that “the security of all Europeans is our common interest.”

“We immediately took solidarity measures toward Cyprus, which was attacked by multiple drones and missiles,” Macron noted.

“We deployed in the region the frigate French frigate Languedoc and a Mistral air-defense unit. An important element strengthening the overall defense posture is that the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle and its battle group are now near Cyprus,” he said.

Macron also stated that before returning to Paris he will visit the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to receive an update on the situation.

After the trilateral meeting was completed, the three leaders made joint statements.
