Monaco announces split with Spanoulis: “We thank him for the passion, energy, and dedication he showed to the team”

Vassilis Spanoulis, 43, officially parts ways with AS Monaco. The coach resigned as the situation with the Monte Carlo team’s financial problems became unsustainable. Unpaid players, financial tensions, and seven losses in the last eight EuroLeague games created an explosive mix that led to rapid developments

Under Spanoulis, Monaco reached the EuroLeague final last year (losing to Fenerbahçe) and had been contending for the top spot in the regular season just weeks ago. Spanoulis remains the national team coach, continuing on the bench after winning the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2025.
