Scenes of unspeakable tragedy are unfolding in the Baalbek area, in historic Ancient Heliopolis, in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, where the war raging in the Middle East continues to show its most horrific face.

At least three people lost their lives following a bombardment by the Israeli air force, which among other things struck the home of a family living in the area. Among the victims is a boy just three years old, Gaif, as well as his parents, who were killed instantly, according to reports.

The family’s eldest son, aged 10, survived the Israeli attack and is hospitalized with injuries in a local hospital; it is unknown whether he is aware of the loss of his parents and his younger brother.

Heartbreaking images from the strike
The images transmitted by the protothema.gr correspondent, Marinos Aleiferis, from the site of the attack capture the scale of the destruction.

The family’s home has been turned into a pile of rubble, with personal belongings scattered everywhere.

A child’s seat, a wooden rocking horse, a scooter bear witness that just a few hours ago this house was the home of a family that no longer exists.
