The agreement was signed by the Director General of GDAEE, Major General Ioannis Bouras, and the head of SIBAT, Brigadier General (ret.) Yair Kulas, in the context of enhancing artillery capabilities.

As announced following the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA), this specific armament program consists of multiple rocket launcher systems (MRLS), and their procurement will be carried out through an intergovernmental agreement with Israel, as Athens seeks technology transfer as well as the development of joint actions in the defense industry sector with Tel Aviv.

Specifically, the MRLS will be mounted on Italian-made vehicles by IVECO, while the procurement includes:

  • 36 MRLS vehicles
  • 6 battery Fire Direction Center (FDC) vehicles
  • 2 battalion FDC vehicles
  • 36 ammunition transport vehicles
  • 288 rockets with a range of 35 km (Accular, 122 mm caliber)
  • 320 rockets with a range of 150 km (EXTRA, 306 mm caliber)
  • 120 rockets with a range of 300 km (Predator Hawk, 370 mm caliber)
  • 108 loitering munitions (SkyStriker, range 100+ km)
  • 324 training rockets
