Week of rain, thunderstorms, and falling temperatures – detailed forecast by Giorgos Tsatrafilias on Protothema

The physicist-meteorologist of protothema.gr predicts limited instability on Monday and more phenomena from Tuesday to Thursday, with thunderstorms and snowfalls in the mountains

The week begins with limited instability and continues with more rain and even snow, according to meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafilias. Temperatures are expected to drop.

More specifically:

Monday:
After midday, rain and local showers are expected in central and especially northern Greece, mainly in mountainous areas. The rest of the country will see plenty of sunshine.
Maximum temperatures will reach 23–24°C on the mainland and 20–21°C on the islands, while at night they will not exceed 15–16°C.
Winds will be variable and moderate, reaching up to 4 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea and 5 Beaufort in the Aegean.

In Athens, no rain is expected. Winds will be southerly at up to 3 Beaufort, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 23°C.
In Thessaloniki, light drizzle is expected around midday, with near calm conditions in the Thermaic Gulf and temperatures between 13 and 22°C.

Tuesday:
After midday, rain and local thunderstorms are expected in central and northern Greece. Southwesterly winds up to 5 Beaufort and a slight rise in temperature.

Wednesday:
An atmospheric disturbance moving from north to south will bring a change in the weather, with rain and local thunderstorms in central and northern areas and snowfall in mountainous regions. Winds will gradually turn northerly, and temperatures will drop, especially in northern Greece.

Thursday:
The weather change will extend to almost the entire country. Temperatures will drop further, not exceeding 16–17°C on the mainland, while snowfall will continue in mountainous areas. The phenomena, however, will be short-lived.
