U.S. President Donald Trump said today that he is having “good discussions” with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as he aims to resolve the war in Ukraine.
“We are working on the situation in Russia, Russia and Ukraine, and we hope we will succeed,” Trump said in an interview with the Fox News.
Trump added that he does not want to disclose when he last spoke with Putin.
“I am having discussions with him, and I am having discussions with President Zelensky—good discussions,” he said, without specifying when the calls with either leader took place.
“The hatred between President Putin and President Zelensky is ridiculous. It’s crazy. And hatred is a bad thing. Hatred is a bad thing when you’re trying to settle something, but it will be done,” he said.
Trump has pledged to end the war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. However, more than a year after taking office, the conflict is still ongoing.
