An unusual sight was witnessed on Tuesday morning by those who were at Raches beach in Fthiotida, as an unexpected “visitor” appeared offshore, moving very comfortably in the sea.
According to lamiareport.gr, swimmers and local residents noticed a few meters from the shoreline an animal crossing the water at speed. When they looked more closely, they realised it was a wild boar, which was swimming calmly, causing surprise among those who were at the beach at the time.

The image may seem strange, but wild boars are known for their excellent swimming abilities. This species has great endurance and it is not uncommon for it to be recorded covering long distances in the sea, moving from coast to coast.
In fact, scientists attribute the presence of large wild boar populations on Evia Island to exactly this ability, as it is estimated that the animals managed to reach the island by crossing sea routes from mainland Greece.
