A 49-year-old woman in Thessaloniki was arrested after she was found to have cats tied with rope on the balcony of her apartment.

The woman was arrested on Sunday afternoon, May 31, in the area of Efkarpia and is accused of violating animal welfare legislation.

According to the authorities, she was keeping three cats on the balcony of her home, tied with rope.

The prescribed administrative fines, amounting to a total of €17,600, were imposed on the 49-year-old, who is expected to be brought before the competent prosecutor.
