A day before the Greek National team’s premiere in the Brazil World Cup, Fernando Santos’ team is fully combat ready for the upcoming match against Colombia.
Morale is high and the international players are preparing feverishly for the first and most crucial game at the Mineirao stadium of Belo Horizonte. “The only thing for certain is that we will fight and we will not go down without a fight”, “we will be ready”, “Greece will be a pleasant surprise” were all statements made by the players.
Santos now faces no difficulties since Papastathopoulos and Tachtsidis are ready for the match.
The most likely set-up for the match against Colombia includes: Karnezis at the goal, Cholevas, Manolas, Papastathopoulos, Torosidis on defence, Katsouranis, Maniatis, Kone in the center and Samaras, Salpingidis and Gekas on offense.
The final selections of the Portuguese coach of the Greek national team, however, will be revealed today after the last workout at Belo Horizonte.
Climatic conditions will be a crucial factor
An element of concern for the players and coaching staff are the climatic conditions in Brazil. High temperatures and high humidity will stress the footballers enough. However, as Colombian players have stated, they are also concerned about the same conditions.
