The incident involving a Ukrainian sea drone off Lefkada was raised during a meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, held in Brussels ahead of the start of the European Council summit.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in the war in Ukraine, with the Prime Minister reiterating Greece’s firm support for Ukraine against Russian aggression.
At the same time, Kyriakos Mitsotakis underlined the need to avoid the spillover of operational activities beyond the war zone, referring specifically to the incident off Lefkada.
Also on the table were prospects for strengthening defence cooperation between Greece and Ukraine, within the broader context of developments in European security.
