A rescue operation by the Hellenic Coast Guard was launched after a luxury yacht began sinking just off the shoreline at Vourkari Marina in Salamina.
According to Greece’s public broadcaster ERT, the incident occurred as the vessel was returning from a test voyage and was maneuvering to dock at the marina.
The Coast Guard said the yacht, which is registered under the Polish flag, was carrying five people at the time of the incident. All passengers were safely evacuated and are reported to be in good health.
Authorities have deployed an anti-pollution containment boom around the area to prevent any potential marine pollution.
