Mitsotakis on deadly arson attack in Thessaloniki: Those responsible will be found & brought to Justice

“What happened in Thessaloniki demonstrates in the starkest possible way that no ideological pretext can justify a murderous attack,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed in his Sunday post on the arson attacks that claimed the life of Vagia Nestora.

In his post, the Prime Minister emphasised that “those responsible for this ruthless attack against members of New Democracy will be found and brought before justice.”

As the Prime Minister notably states, “as in life, so too in politics, there are moments when everything else takes second place,” adding that the tragic loss of a human life overshadowed every other development this week.

The Prime Minister points out that “our country has paid a very heavy price, in blood and suffering, for blind violence. What happened in Thessaloniki demonstrates in the starkest possible way that no ideological pretext can justify a murderous attack.”

He also stresses that “it is clear that our unwavering decision since 2019 to confront lawlessness and enforce the law everywhere has upset some people. Let them understand, once again, that we will not back down, nor will we allow the country to return to the years of division. Just as the November 17 terrorist organisation was dismantled, and just as Golden Dawn was brought down, the same will happen to these cowardly individuals masquerading as revolutionaries.”
