The investigation into the death of criminal lawyer Stavros Georgiou, who was found dead in his office in central Athens late on Tuesday night (22/7), is in full progress.

According to information available so far, the forensic examiner found no injuries indicating the use of a knife or firearm. Instead, the evidence suggests that the lawyer was subjected to a violent assault involving punches and kicks, primarily to the head, which caused the fatal bleeding. Authorities are also examining the possibility that the victim may have been struck against furniture inside the office during the attack.

Reports also indicate that the lawyer had not been heard from for several hours, causing growing concern among his family. His 16-year-old twin daughters repeatedly tried to reach him by phone, but he did not answer their calls.

As the hours passed without any contact, the girls went to his office, where they repeatedly rang the doorbell but received no response. A resident of the building heard them calling out and alerted the building’s caretaker. The caretaker opened the office, revealing the tragic scene.

According to the initial reports, his body was discovered naked and curled in the fetal position. There were bloodstains inside the office, and his clothing was found scattered around the room. Investigators also found no obvious signs of forced entry at the office entrance.

Shortly afterward, the victim’s brother arrived at the scene, visibly shaken. He asked police officers for permission to go upstairs to see his brother. Speaking to reporters, he said that he, too, had been trying to contact him since midday that same day without success.

The area was sealed off by a large police presence, and a forensic examiner was called to the scene.
