Lagarde to CNBC: Greece must pay tranche on 30th of June or…

Statements by the IMF leader

Newsroom June 28 02:17

Greece remains a part of the IMF as well as the Eurozone, stated Christine Lagarde in an interview to CNBC. She underlined that Greece will have to pay off the IMF tranche on the 30th of June but also must accept the implementation of reforms. She estimated that the Eurozone is much more protected than in 2011 today, but she reiterated that there might be severe fallback from a negative development in Greece.

She additionally hopes that there will be a deal on Greece, while she underlines that the negotiations have been delayed by quite a lot. She states that the IMF is ready and willing to return to said negotiations at any time.
