Former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn called on Greece’s creditors to accept a nominal debt reduction and a temporary suspension of payments. His article, titled “On learning from one’s mistakes” was posted on his Twitter page:

“My proposal is the following: Greece should get no more new financing from the EU or the IMF but it should get a generous maturity extension and significant nominal debt reduction from the official sector.”

He said that with the unfavorable turn which negotiations between Greece and creditors are taking, as well as with the announcement of a referendum, “it is necessary to recall some truths in order to take a different direction. “
