On Monday, August 31, agreements are scheduled to be signed for Greece’s integrated, multi-layered air-defense and anti-missile protection system, the “Achilles Shield,” worth €3 billion. The agreement will be signed in Tel Aviv.

According to confirmed information, the agreements will be signed between the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) of the Ministry of National Defence and the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Defense Cooperation (SIBAT), as well as corresponding Israeli defense bodies and defense companies participating in the program.

It is recalled that the “Achilles Shield” was approved by the Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

As Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias had emphasized on the sidelines of a briefing on the Ministry of National Defence’s armaments programs, “the total amount for the anti-aircraft systems exceeds €3 billion by a small margin.”

Regarding the timetable, Mr. Dendias had stated that “the ‘Achilles Shield’ will be operationally ready in 35 months from today,” while also explaining that this timeframe concerns the completion of the program, as it will be delivered in stages.
