«It’s not a summer adventure. It’s love, it’s serious, and we have plans for the future.» With these words, 22-year-old Antoine Lecomte describes this relationship with Tiphaine, the 42-year-old daughter of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French President Emmanuel Macron.
The young kitesurfing athlete and entrepreneur maintains that age is no obstacle for the couple, and that what matters is the connection between them: «Age means nothing when you’re in love. Tiphaine may be 20 years older than me, but she’s fun, exciting and full of joy for life,» he told the Daily Mail.
Antoine revealed that he initially had no idea who the woman in front of him was when she came for surfing lessons in Le Touquet, where he works professionally: «She came for a few lessons at the start of the summer, we got on well, and she came back a few more times. Then we met at a party I’d been invited to. I had no idea she was Brigitte Macron’s daughter. I found out later. It doesn’t bother me, because what matters is that we get on well and make each other happy,» he stressed.
He admitted that once their relationship became public, he read a fair amount about himself and Tiphaine, but stressed that the publicity hadn’t changed anything between them.
«It’s something serious. It’s not a summer relationship. We have a lot of plans together,» he noted, revealing that the couple is even planning shared professional steps. «She’s a lawyer, and I need to grow my factory in Sri Lanka. We’ll travel together, and I hope my business becomes even stronger,» he said.
The 22-year-old also said his parents know about the relationship and are supportive, and that he isn’t concerned by the attention his new partner has attracted.
«People don’t treat us any differently. We laugh a lot together, we support each other and we enjoy the time we spend together,» he said.
Asked, finally, what fascinated him most about Tiphaine, he declined to go into detail, saying with a smile: «You’re asking a lot. I can’t tell you everything about us, but I can tell you we’re happy and in love.»
