Varoufakis: Today’s no a big ‘yes’ to real reforms

Greek FinMin is adamant that the steady 'no' win will help in the negotiations

Newsroom July 5 10:37

Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis made a statement to the media concerning  the landslide victory for ‘no’ in the referendum supporting the rejection of creditors reforms on Sunday. “From the first moment our creditors refused substantial negotiations, imposed closed banks, planned to humiliate us,” he said.  “With the brave ‘no ‘ we have in our hands will extend a hand of friendship to partners for common ground.”

He pointed to ‘no’ as being a clear message for no more cuts, and ‘yes’ to real reforms. “Today’s ‘no’ is a big ‘yes’ to a democratic Europe,” he said.

“From tomorrow, Europe – whose heart beats in Greece – begins to heal its wounds,” he said.
