New information about the operation of the clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki was provided by the legal adviser of the Athens Medical Association (ISA), Katerina Fragkaki, speaking to ERTnews about the case concerning the death of Giorgos Mazonakis and the plasmapheresis procedures carried out at the facility.

As she said, the ISA’s investigation uncovered evidence which, according to her, indicates that the procedure was also carried out outside the clinic’s declared operating hours.

According to what she said, the plasmapheresis machine is reported to have been used for approximately 42 minutes during the procedure involving Giorgos Mazonakis, while the machine’s records are also being examined for other uses in the preceding days.

Ms. Fragkaki said that the machine’s data indicates that it was used on days and at times when, as she said, the clinic had declared that it was not operating.

“On August 28, it was used in the evening at 23:33 on a patient. The clinic said that it operated from 9 in the morning until 9 at night.”

Ms. Fragkaki further claimed that on August 29, a Saturday, “although they do not operate on weekends, they operated the machine,” adding that on August 30, a Sunday, it “was used on a patient, as shown by what the machine recorded.”

According to her, the equipment was used on weekends without notification to or approval from the Athens Medical Association.

“They did it secretly, they did not obtain approval from the ISA, they knew they were doing it illegally,” she said characteristically.

The ISA legal adviser also said that inspections at the clinic had been carried out in 2025 and 2026, while she claimed that following the singer’s death, the Medical Association identified new evidence.

“The morning after Mazonakis’ death, the ISA found a lot of evidence,” she said, claiming that “the two doctors tried to deceive the ISA.”

As she stated, the clinic had been the subject of inspections.

Ms. Fragkaki further claimed that plasmapheresis was being carried out without the required notification to or approval from the ISA.
