The man who was shot dead in Glyfada was found in the early hours of Sunday in an isolated location next to the large Ellinikon construction site. The victim, believed to have been between 50 and 60 years old, was discovered shortly before 2am near the junction of Karamanli and Panagouli streets.
According to reports, the man was found by a passing driver who spotted someone lying at the side of the road next to a motorbike.
The driver initially thought the man had been involved in a road accident and contacted the emergency police dispatch service, requesting police assistance.
Officers who arrived a few minutes later found that the man was dead, having lost a large amount of blood.
During a search of the scene, more than five shell casings were found, confirming that the man had died from gunshot wounds rather than a road accident. According to the same reports, the victim had been shot mainly in the head.
