A 32-year-old woman linked to Abu Dhabi’s royal family was found unconscious on a London street while a barefoot three-year-old child played unsupervised a short distance away, near a busy road.
Mahra Al Nahyan, who is connected through marriage to the ruling Al Nahyan family, admitted to a charge of child neglect over the incident, which took place in June 2026. The court sentenced her to two years of community service, including participation in a rehabilitation program, and imposed a financial penalty.
According to evidence presented during the hearing, Al Nahyan was found on June 13 lying in front of railings in west London, next to a man who was also unconscious. Nearby, a three-year-old child was playing barefoot and was potentially at risk at any moment, as the child was close to a road carrying passing traffic.
Passersby who noticed what was happening took it upon themselves to protect the child and alerted the authorities. Testimony revealed that the 32-year-old had used cocaine in the days leading up to the incident. Items associated with drug use were reportedly found among her personal belongings, although no illegal substances were discovered at the scene.
Al Nahyan remained unconscious for approximately 30 minutes and, when she regained consciousness, reportedly displayed erratic behavior.
Who Is Mahra Al Nahyan?
Mahra Al Nahyan is reportedly a member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling royal family through marriage. According to media reports, she receives a monthly allowance of £8,000.
Her name became widely known following the incident in London and the subsequent court proceedings, which focused on the circumstances in which the three-year-old child had been left without adequate supervision.
During the trial, her defense lawyer argued that Al Nahyan had not taken drugs on the day she was found unconscious. The lawyer said her condition was caused by exhaustion following cocaine use in the preceding days.
The Sentence Imposed
The court sentenced Al Nahyan to a two-year community order requiring her to participate in a rehabilitation program. She was also fined £5,000 and ordered to pay £1,000 toward the prosecution’s legal costs.
Some media reports put her total financial liability at £6,114.
