Cyprus Customs has seized a large quantity of condoms bearing counterfeit versions of a well-known brand following an inspection of a shipping container that arrived in the country from Greece.
According to a statement from the Department of Customs, on 22 October 2026, a container carrying a consolidated shipment of goods for multiple recipients was selected for X-ray scanning and a physical inspection following a risk assessment.
During the inspection, 28,000 condoms were found and detained. Based on initial indications and the accompanying documents and invoices submitted, the products appear to infringe the intellectual property rights of a well-known brand, as they are counterfeit, the statement said.
According to the announcement, the company owner reportedly admitted that the products in question were counterfeit.
The formal seizure process is expected to proceed in the coming days, with the products ultimately destined for destruction.
