Schaeuble attacks Tsipras: Things won’t get easier if you ask people for reforms

“This wasn’t an easy path,” said Schaeuble during the German-Spanish business conference held in Berlin, where Spanish Luis de Guindos also participated.

“But, according to recent figures (…) this was the right path,” said German Foreign Minister. “The problem in Europe is that this is quite unusual,” he said referring indirectly to Greece. Last months’ developments have shown that things won’t get easier, if you seek the approval of people to adopt structural reforms, Schaeuble said.

Luis de Guindos stressed the need to improve economic governance and mechanisms within the euro area. “The political, financial and economic integration is on the right path”, he said highlighting “We have overcome the recession but not the crisis”.
