Afghanistan: The five kidnapped members of the Red Cross are finally free

The staff of the International Committee of the Red Cross had been abducted by a local armed organization on the 14th of August

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced on Wednesday that the five Afghans, staff members in Afghanistan which were kidnapped last week in the western province of Herat, have been released and they are in good health.

“All five of our colleagues are free,” said the head of the ICRC mission in Kabul, Monica Tzanareli in a notice sent by email to Reuters in Zurich.

“Their health is in good condition and they have already met their families, which was very important for us.”
