Archbishop Ieronymos condemns any attacks on politicians on the occasion of same-sex marriage: The Church does not take revenge

The Church loves but does not leave its positions, Ieronymos added

Archbishop Ieronymos expressed his condemnation of attacks against politicians on the occasion of same-sex marriage, following the slap that New Democracy MP Angeliki Delikari received in a church in Kavala.

As he said after a question from reporters, ‘the Church does not take revenge’ although he added that “it (the Church) loves, but does not leave its positions”.

“The Church is love. It complains, it says its positions, it is firm in them, but we must not forget that it is love that is above all, as well as kindness and tolerance,” Ieronymos initially said, ERT reported, adding:

“These incidents are also due to the education of everyone and the influence of some people who take many things of the Church as revenge. But the Church does not take revenge. It loves, but it does not leave its positions.”
