Attemped homicide case solved in Zakynthos

The 3 perpetrators are already in jail on charges of attempted murder against an Australian businessman. According to him, they extracted amounts of money through extortion in order to ensure the “smooth” operation of his night club

The incident took place in Laganas, Zakynthos. Three people wearing full face hoods immobilized him and hit him with a bat, before shooting him in the leg.

On the very same day, a Bulgarian had already been arrested, and a 47 year old Greek was identified as the instigator of this case.

Following the investigation of the crime scene, the bat used in the assault was confiscated, as well as a full-face hood and a t-shirt.

The investigation conducted by the police department of Zakynthos led to the incarceration of the 47 year old Greek inciter. The evaluation and utilization of the evidence also showed the involvement of a 34 year old Greek, who had turned himself in on August 27, as there was already a pending warrant for his arrest.

The three arrested men face multiple felony charges, including inciting, attempted murder, assault, extortion, illegal arms possession and use.

According to the police, the motive of the 42 year old foreigner and the 47 year old Greek was blackmail and the extraction of amounts of money through it. The 36 year old Australian victim was into nightlife business in Zakynthos.

More specifically, according to him, the 42 and the 47 year old perpetrators extorted him on a weekly basis in 2011 and 2012, extracting 1000 and 350 euro respectively so as to allow the smooth operation of his businesses.

The three culprits have already been imprisoned, following the relevant legal amendment of the interrogating authorities, so that the potential involvement of further people be examined.
